About

What

Aamra Grove is a metaphor.

A metaphor to evoke the discourse-rich culture of ancient India -- where as a busy, hot day segued
into an ultramarine dusk, leaders of communities gathered under their village trees and engaged
in deep dialogue. It was a process that enriched the fund of knowledge in a predominantly oral culture. The individuals represented eclectic backgrounds and strove to discover common ground for
common good.

Aamra Grove is a metaphor for that process.

We are dedicated to bringing together extraordinary talent across generations and disciplines to focus on shaping the thinking, policy and progress of India as a global player.

Theme: “Success and Sustainability”

India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today. What are the environmental, political and social ingredients necessary to maintain this economic growth?

This economic race demands a balance between ecological preservation and an inclusive polity. How do we preserve our environment and our natural resources? And how do we make sure that the entire population of India benefits from this growth?

Through expert opinions, practical projects and possible collaborations among individuals and corporations, the retreat will explore the avenues to make the success of India sustainable and to make sustainability successful.

A Unique Retreat

… where every attendee is a speaker
This is a retreat where there are no keynote speakers.
Every guest is also expected to be a speaker. The session leader will provide a brief framework and the moderators will manage the sessions, so that everyone can participate and voice their thoughts and opinions.

… where the hallway conversations are as important as the
town hall meetings

Ideas exchanged during the sessions can be explored during open time
slots that have been specifically designed for you to get to know one another. Nature walks, horseback rides, hiking trails and the beautiful fall colors that surround the Mohonk Mountain House will provide the ideal backdrop for in-depth conversations in the early hours even before the retreat sessions begin.

… where the focus is on having frank conversations

We believe that true innovation comes from an inter-disciplinary approach to problem solving. With the help of experts from every aspect of life that are present in the audience, we will ensure that there will be frank discussions on questions that need to be asked so that we can come up with unique ideas that can contribute to making India the economic, environmental and the cultural powerhouse of the new millennium.
